The creation of a school and curriculum reform
This case study of a new private school investigated the implementation of a curriculum designed to incorporate project-oriented, problem-based learning and a constructivist approach to challenge above grade level` learners. Data from observations, interviews and documents revealed conflicting and competing values of the stakeholders which directly influenced the implementation of the intended curriculum. I discuss the origins of the school, factors which influenced the operational curriculum, and implications for initiating similar curriculum reform efforts.
