This issue is quite wide in its approach. We begin with an illuminating essay from a group of researchers: Raphaël Bassan, Gérard Courant, Christian Lebrat, and Dominique Noguez, who attempt to set the record straight for an international public, on what was in fact one of the richest periods of experimental cinema in France - the 1970s. This is followed by three articles which have as a common theme the representation of a nation’s psyche.

Keywords: experimental cinema; patriarchal family; representation of regionalism
