The American Concept of the 'Northern Tier' Defence Project and the Signing of the Turco-Pakistani Agreement, 1953-54
After the unsuccessful British attempts to form a defence organization in the Middle East in the years following the Second World War, a 'Northern Tier' defence concept under American initiatives began to take shape. This article deals with the emergence of this defence concept and the signing of the Turco-Pakistani Agreement in 1954.
