Amendments: A fictional re-imagining of the Trinidad archive

This article introduces a conceptual framework for the historical materials and significant historical locations that constitute the Trinidad archive. It considers archives as sites for continuous re-interpretation and analysis. This is achieved by examining two tendencies inherent in Trinidad archival practices: the conservation of historical material consisting of colonial documents and plantation locations, in addition to post-independent histories. The discussion further introduces my multimedia artwork, Amendments, in which creole fictional re-imaginings potentially enrich the continued re-interpretation of colonial material.
