Post modern forms of subjectivity
The compulsion to maintain youth, beauty and slimness, and the compulsion to buy are some of the new forms of subjectivity we observe in our times. Such symptoms can merely be understood as new contents for classical compulsive ones. They can also be seen as products of a new symbolic order that became possible only in the era of the image and in consumer society. From this perspective, these symptoms represent not only new contents, but also a new psychopathological structure.
