Die Nachhaltigkeitsforschung braucht gut qualifizierten wissenschaftlichen Nachwuchs, der in der Lage ist, Lösungen für komplexe gesellschaftliche Probleme wie den Klimawandeloder die Energiewende zu entwickeln. Außerdem sollen gesellschaftliche Transformationsprozessein Richtung Nachhaltigkeit interdisziplinär untersucht und mit angestoßen werden. Daher fördert dasBundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung Nachwuchsgruppen in der Sozial-ökologischen Forschung.
