External Debt Statistics 1998‐2002: 2003 Edition (Complete Edition ‐ ISBN 9264106219)

This annual report presents comprehensive statistics on the gross external debt of 171 developing countries and countries in transition.  The 2003 edition has been enhanced with additional series providing more detailed breakdowns of categories of debt and time series data going back to end‐1998. The publication is aimed at bankers, investors, financial policy makers, debt compilers. In addition, it is of interest to the development community, providing data on the official financing of development.  These figures are compiled by OECD, largely on the basis of creditor sources. The main sources are reports to the OECD by the main international official bilateral and multilateral lending institutions, and the Bank for International Settlements' data on bank loans and international debt securities.  Consistency over time and across countries and the use of a wide range of sources allow for a consistent and comprehensive account of external debt, making this publication invaluable for international comparisons and country risk analysis.
