The voluntary sector: some challenges, privileges and reflections
This article is an account by an ESOL teacher working in the voluntary sector, reflecting on her experiences in a range of contexts. The article opens with a brief overview of some of the challenges facing the third sector, in particular, those which teachers meet in that context, before exploring some of her practices, drawing on participatory approaches to language teaching and learning.
