EXPLORING BUSINESS SCHOOLS’ ROLE IN ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE EDUCATION
Artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming increasingly prevalent in every aspect of modern life. AI applications range from the very beneficial ones, such as rapid drug discovery, to harmful ones that threaten individuals’ privacy or lead to wrongful convictions due to biased data.
In addition, the demand for AI-trained professionals is growing every year. Each year, companies are increasing their spending on AI initiatives — with the AI market on track to surpass $500 billion in 2023. However, as organizations continue to increase spending on AI initiatives, they struggle to find employees who have the requisite AI qualifications and who can apply their AI skills in an organizational setting. Business schools can play an important role in meeting organizations’ needs. In this paper, we research the current state of AI education in business schools. We identify AI competencies that business schools can offer. We also chart out how business schools can incorporate these competencies in their curricula.
