A vast composite body of plutonic and volcanic rocks in the central part of the Transvaal, the Bushveld igneous complex includes the platinum reef worked by Rustenburg Platinum Mines Limited and constituting the world’s greatest reserve of the platinum metals. This article describes
the geological and economic aspects of this unusually interesting formation.
