Klostermann, Vittorio

Founded in 1930, Vittorio Klostermann Verlag is an academic publisher focussing on the humanities. Its main emphasis is on philosophy, notably with the Complete Edition of Martin Heidegger's works and the Philosophische Abhandlungen, a series of monographic studies on both the historical and systematic aspects of philosophy by renowned representatives of their respective academic fields. One of the leading German philosophical journals, the Zeitschrift für philosophische Forschung, edited by Gerhard Ernst (Erlangen) and Christof Rapp (München) with four numbers per year, is a high-quality forum for selected academic contributions on continental as well as analytical philosophy. With the series Studien zur europäischen Rechtsgeschichte and its accompanying journal Rechtsgeschichte ? Legal History, edited by the Max-Planck-Institute for European History of Law, Klostermann is one of the foremost German publishers of studies on Law History. Another important field is the study of literature and languages, complemented by a number of standard bibliographies, also available online. In German literary studies, one central focus is on Thomas Mann, represented by the series Thomas Mann Studien and the Thomas Mann Jahrbuch. Romance languages and literatures are represented by the renowned journal Romanische Forschungen, edited by Cornelia Ruhe (Mannheim) and Martin Becker (Köln). Library science is covered by the leading German journal on the subject, the Zeitschrift für Bibliothekswesen und Bibliographie, and the associated series of »Sonderbände« featuring more in-depth studies on a multitude of issues library science engages in. In 2017, Klostermann took over from Stroemfeld publishers one of the most frequently cited German journals on psychoanalysis, the Zeitschrift für psychoanalytische Theorie und Praxis ? Journal for Psychoanalytic Theory and Practice.
