Drawing on empirical research and established language planning theories and ideas, this paper presents a conceptual framework model to support foreign language planning. The key focus is foreign or second language planning at secondary school level. Whilst foreign language planning is not a new phenomenon, this paper argues for a reconfigured perspective on this often under-examined issue.

Basado en trabajo empírico de investigación y en teorías e ideas de planificación lingüistica, este artículo presenta un marco conceptual para respaldar la planificación de lenguas extranjeras. El enfoque principal son las lenguas extranjeras o segundas lenguas en las escuelas secundarias. Mientras que la planificación de la lengua extranjera no es un fenómeno nuevo, este artículo defiende la necesidad de adoptar una perspectiva reconfigurada en relación a este tema al que a menudo no se presta bastante atención.
