Prinz) was estimated spectro-photometrically and fluorimetrically. The ratio between the extractable DNA content in both parts of the maize kernel was determined. This ratio was also calculated by using Real Time PCR endogenous system based on detection of 10 kDa zein gene. The different DNA quantity in the embryo and in the endosperm, in combination with their different origin of the genomes can be an important factor when the presence of genetically modified (GM) DNA is quantitatively analyzed by Real Time PCR. The significance of this factor is discussed in relation to the application of the Real Time PCR technique for GMO quantification in maize seed samples.", }
