Influence of chemical treatment of maize seeds with different levels of mechanical damage on electrical conductivity values

Three maize seed lots of cv. CO 32 with different intensities of mechanical damage were treated with at the commercial recommended rates with the fungicides Maxim XL (Fludioxonil + Metalaxil), Captan 750 TS (Captan) and Vitavax - Thiram 200 SC (Carboxin + Thiram), the insecticides K-obiol (Deltamethrine + Piperonile Butoxide) and Actelic (Pirimiphos-methyl) and a combination of the fungicides and insecticides in order to evaluate the effects of the products on electrical conductivity. Seed treatment with Maxim XL (Fludioxonil + Metalaxil) and Vitavax -Thiram 200 SC (Carboxin + Thiram) fungicides did not effect electrical conductivity of corn soaking solutions. On the other hand, K-obiol (Deltamethrine + Piperonile Butoxide) and Actelic (Pirimiphos-methyl) insecticide mixture alone or in combination with fungicides generally increased conductivity values; however, this did not cause alter seed lot classification by vigour.
