Shengcao Yaoxing Beiyao

Shengcao Yaoxing Beiyao(Essentials of Unprocessed Herbal Medicine Properties): Lingnan Yiji (TCM medical writings) have been increasing after Gehong of Jin Dynasty. Until Ming and Qing Dynasty, considerable works on TCM were produced and TCM masters came forth in large numbers, which gradually formed the characteristics of Lingnan medicine which originated from the medicine of Central Plains, however changed to become unique. The remains of Lingnan medical documents became the significant basis for further studying Lingnan medicine and pharmacology. According to Guo Aichunâ–™s Textual Research on Provincial Medical Writings in China, there are 191 types of extant Yiji in Guangdong Province (including Hainai Province), and 61 types recorded in Kwangsi Chuang. The total number is only 252 types which reflect Lingnan medical practitionersâ–™ focus on researches in the field rather than producing writings, compared with 1454 types in Jiangsu Province and 1112 types in Zhejiang Province. A Yiji handed down from ancient times is particularly valuable. This book, an ancient Yiji has experienced vicissitudes for hundreds of years and suffered deteriorating preservation. It urgently needs to be systematically edited, compiled. To publish its photographic print is to discover the hidden light of ancient wisdom and to inspire the future talents.
