S. Hirzel Verlag

The publishing house of S. Hirzel looks back on a long tradition since its foundation in Leipzig in the year 1853. From the beginning, the focus of interest lay in the publication of reference works for the natural sciences and humanities. Today, S. Hirzel specializes in the fields of chemistry, physics (particularly acoustics), Germanic languages and literatures, and philosophy. The journal "Acta Acustica united with Acustica" was founded in 1936 as the "Akustische Zeitschrift", later becoming "Acustica" in 1951. Since 1996 is has been published in cooperation with the European Acoustics Association (EAA).
