abstract = "The visualisation of the periodic structure of jets supports the evidence for the existence of two high frequency sources of sound radiation. These jets being analogous to the jets of reactors and of rockets, their study is particularly interesting from the point of view of their sound
effects.We propose in particular to see if it is possible to weaken the sound emission by reflecting back the sound waves to the emitting region, using an appropriate spherical reflector.A weakening of the emission should be observed when two conditions are satisfied:1. the source
ought to be sufficiently unstable so as to be susceptible of being weakened by the reflected waves,2. the reflected waves should be of opposite phase to the source.",
