Cryoletters

CryoLetters was established in 1980 as a rapid publication vehicle for papers across the range of low temperature sciences. Low temperatures have profound effects on all biological systems, influenced by physical and chemical changes in the cold, and research in this area is often multi-disciplinary. Many important fundamental studies continue to be made in the area of cryobiology. Other aspects in the field have important applications, including cryopreservation of cells and tissues in medicine and biotechnology, cryo-banking and conservation in reproductive biology, seed sciences and genetic conservation. CryoLetters recognises these exciting cross-subject possibilities, and has set itself the task of bringing these topics to a wider audience.

The journal is published independently by the CryoLetters LLP, is not constrained by links to any one scientific society, and is supported by an international expert Editorial Board to reflect the world-wide diversity in topics and scientific activity. CryoLetters was listed by Current Contents from 1983, and the journal format has been updated and improved over the intervening years, with publication of 6 issues per volume for more than 20 years. Significant steps forward were achieved when the journal was accepted by the National Library of Congress for citation via PubMed in 1999, and when CryoLetters joined Ingenta in 2003 to facilitate electronic full-text access. Further innovative developments are planned to enhance the scientific value of CryoLetters for both authors and readers.

CryoLetters welcomes submission of short, timely research articles, authoritative reviews, technical developments and letters to the editor on any topic in low temperature biology.
