In this book, "Reading Essays", "Literary Essays", "Reading Essays in the North Window" and "Notes on a Sunny Evening" all have separate editions published. "Reading Essays" was published 40 years ago in Shanghai. "Literary Essays", "Reading Essays in the North Window" were printed in the early and end of 60 's. "Notes on a Sunny Evening" was published at the beginning of 70's(in which most of the articles were prose and essays, but the book selected articles related to readings in consideration of style).All the four above-mentioned books are published by Hong Kong. As to "Red Frost House Essays", "Hong Kong Bibliography", "Gossip of Bookworm" and some related translation work were published only by Hong Kong papers. In general, the earliest papers was written in the 20s or 30s while the latest papers was written in the early 70 's, almost covering a time span of half a century.The author has not only use Ye Lingfeng as his pen name, but also used Lin Feng, Ye Linfeng, Ren He and Shuang Ya as pseudonyms. These essays proved what Ye Lingfeng's own words: she love reading books of various types no matter they're ancient or modern, Chinese or foreign, serious or entertaining ones. Meanwhile, he focused more on books related to literature, painting and Hong Kong as the first two shows his interest in writing and painting and the last kind describes the place he lived for the rest of his life.To sum up, the three volumes of hundreds of thousands of words are a combination of reading notes and author's writing.
