Phase Stability of Cubic Pyrochlore Rare Earth Tantalate Pinning Additives in
2 YBa 3 Cu 7−δ
Phase stability of cubic‐pyrochlore‐structured
3 RE 7 ( TaO , where RTO = rare
earth elements) pinning additives in RE 2 YBa 3 Cu 7−δ ( O ) superconductor and the
pinning properties influenced by YBCO addition into RTO films were investigated. YBCO completely reacts with RTO and is converted
to cubic‐double‐perovskite‐structured YBCO 2 Ba 6 ( RETaO ), a more thermodynamically stable tantalate phase within BRETO .
In YBCO ‐doped RTO films, YBCO self‐assembled nanocolumns align along the c‐axis of the film and play a major role in the improvement of
flux pinning and J
c performance over wide magnetic field and angular ranges.
