In this paper, we used a simple, facile way to synthesize the new [email protected](p-diaminoazobenzene) composites, Ag nanospheres and nanodendrites. The samples were synthesized by adding the AgNO3 aqueous solution into p-diaminoazobenzene (PDAAB) solution directly, without any surfactants or other agents. Different spectroscopy analyses, such as scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Infrared spectroscopy (IR), and Raman spectroscopy were used to clarify our results. The molar ratio and concentration of the PDAAB/AgNO3 play a sole role in the morphology and size of the samples. Upon the ultraviolet (UV) irradiation, the morphology formed by the PDAAB would be grown to flowerlike structures as the natural templates or stems due to the photoisomerization of the azobenzenze moieties, and the self-organized silver nanoparticles were able to absorb on the stem. Finally, the Ag nanodendrites were formed. Furthermore, a possible formation mechanism was discussed.
