Sugarcane Bagasse fiber was treated with NaOH and ground to extract short fibers. Poly(Lactic acid)/Basalt Fiber/Sugarcane Bagasse fiber [P/BF/BG] hybrid composites were prepared using melt compounding using twin screw extruder followed by Injection molding. Thermal stability of chemically modified Bagasse/Basalt fibers and PLA composites reinforced with 4 wt%, 5 wt%, 6 wt% and 7 wt%. Were studied. The thermal Properties of PLA Composites were assessed using differential scanning Calorimetry [DSC], Thermo gravimetric analysis [TGA] and scanning electron Microscopy [SEM]. The optimum weight percentage of basalt fiber and Bagasse fiber in PLA composites was found to be 84 wt%, 12 wt% and 4 wt% respectively. Better interfacial boning between fiber and matrix was evidenced by increased thermal stability of composites due to incorporation of fiber. Crystallization and melting behaviour of PLA composites were studied in the temperature range from 30 °C to 170 °C. Crystallization temperature and Crystallization enthalpy increase up to 12 wt%, 4 wt% of Basalt/Bagasse fiber content and gradually decreased with further decrease of Basalt fiber.
