Drug Interactions Analysis of Geriatric Patient Prescriptions in Beji Primary Health Care Depok in Period of July–December 2016
The elderly population more susceptible to various diseases and due to this condition geriatric patient require various drug therapy. Thus, geriatric patient tend to have a greater chance of drug interaction. The purpose of this research was to analyze drug interactions in geriatric
patient at Beji Primary Health Care Depok. The study design was cross sectional and descriptive. The data used was secondary data obtained from geriatric patient prescription with a retrospective method in the period July–December 2016. Sampling was done using systematic stratified random
sampling. The presence of drug interactions in prescription was analyzed using Micromedex Drug Interaction software program. The result of analysis, 85 (24,08%) out of 353 prescriptions showed a drug interaction. Drug interactions analysis showed a total of 93 events amongst 85 prescriptions.
The most frequently prescribed drug is amlodipine (18,02%) with hypertension (55,08%) as the most common disease in geriatric patient at Beji Primary Health Care Depok. The most frequent interaction is a combination of diclofenac sodium with dexamethasone (35,56%). The most severity drug interactions
that occurs frequently is major (72,04%). The prevalence of drug interaction occurrence in geriatric patient at Beji Primary Health Care Depok is 24,08%.
