Competency Level of Homestay Operators in Malaysia: A Literature Review
Competence is consists a set of knowledge, skills, attitudes and values that affect the roles, actions, achievements and work of a person. Competence can be defined as the authority and the ability of a person to perform a task in accordance with the position in work places. This paper describes the issues of competence issues by homestay operators in Malaysia. Measurement of competence is viewed based on three main elements such as knowledge, skills and attitudes. These three elements be seen in the context of homestay operators in Malaysia. The importance of improving the competence of the homestay operators program in Malaysia so that they can own benefit from such efforts. This study will be carried out based on the needs of homestay operators in supporting the development of a homestay program in Malaysia. As such, this conceptual paper will discuss an overview of competence and problem that face by homestay operators in context of competency.
