Ablution Function Mean Analysis: A Prototype Design Strategy for Sub-Sanitaryware Manufacturing

The performance of existing spaces designed for the act/function of ablution differs according to the quality of the spatial design of the ablution facility. Earlier studies have shown most of the ablution facilities in mosques are inadequately designed especially on the practical used that equality between physically reasonable needs while performing ablution. Hence, this research focuses on the development of an ablution tub that is shariah principle compliant, suitable for the abled and the disabled, through the ‘Ablution Function Mean Analysis.’ The performance of existing spaces designed for the act/function of ablution differs according to the quality of the spatial design of the ablution facility. Aesthetic Research explained, ablution practices have focused intensively on the ritual principle of ablution but lack significance on practical design and commercial value. It provides opportunities to the local ceramic sanitary ware industry (mainly focused on the toilet bowl, sink, bath tub etc.) to lead as a manufacturer in pioneering a new product development with high production quality. The prototype design strategy focus on the concept of incorporating design innovation, to deliver high value-added products in ways that novel and competitive. The fundamental of syntactic structure for local wudhu’ trends ideas was developed from previous research will be transformed and digitized in Rapid Prototyping form as a template model for a full-scale masterpiece prototype through advanced fabrication as a sample model which could be commercialized through future mechanical support manufacturing. Since most of the existing ablution design in Malaysia are designed separately as a combination of components and not designed as product gestalt, this prototype design strategy will enhance the Malaysian sanitary ware manufacturer with is enormous potential opportunities as new product design segment. It will be the impetus to advanced manufacturing where the established formulation concept of b-sanitary ware focus on the economy, safety and comfort consideration.
