Nowadays, the role of lecturer on how lesson content is being understand by students is becoming more challenging. Consistently, most of the lecturers are required to prepare their own multimedia teaching aids to be delivered in the current tertiary learning environment. The challenges for them are to ensure either the content of topic been taught is really understood by their students or just be seen in lecture hall. Towards this, in designing an effective teaching aid as a communication tool, it should be well designed and developed by the lecturers. In which lecturer play an important role as interface designer for their teaching aids. Thus this paper is empirically addressing the data from analysis of existing multimedia teaching aids used at tertiary level. The data presented is based on effective interface design principles used in the existing teaching aids in tertiary level in Malaysia. Although the sample of study is based in Malaysia, the outcomes of this paper extensively could be as a guideline for other countries.
