Knowledge Infrastructure, Process, and the Effectiveness of Manufacturing SMEs in Selangor, Malaysia

This study examines how knowledge management infrastructures in Malaysian manufacturing SMEs affect the SMEs’ ability to process knowledge, which leads to an increase in organizational efficiency. This study employs a cross-sectional design and a quantitative approach. Complete data was collected from 215 mid-level managers from 58 manufacturing SMEs located in Selangor, Malaysia. Findings of this study indicate that the knowledge infrastructure capability has a significant role in the organizations’ ability to process information for better business decisions. In addition, the SMEs’ capacity to process knowledge has a significant positive effect on organizational effectiveness. Manufacturing SMEs must therefore develop an infrastructure to acquire knowledge, and then to process this knowledge for organizational effectiveness.
