Investigation of Poly Glycidyl Methacrylate-Co-Ethyl Methacrylate (GMA-Co-EMA) (90/10)-Based Electrolytes in Lithium Battery Applications

A new solid polymer electrolytes (SPE) comprising copolymer of poly(glycidyl methacrylate, GMA) and (ethyl methacrylate, EMA) as polymer host using LiClO4 as a dopant were prepared via solution-casting technique. The copolymer was prepared by photopolymerization method. The SPE film obtained was characterized using X-ray diffraction, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy. Result showed reduction of P(GMA-co-EMA) crystallinity phase at the highest conductivity while result obtained from XRD analysis depicted that the full width at half maximum (FWHM) of the polymer complex decreases with increase in lithium salt. The highest conductivity achieved was 5.1×10−4 at 373 K while the solid polymer electrolyte exhibited its highest conductivity at room temperature 3.4×10−5 S cm−1 at 30 wt.% of LiClO4.
