Influence of Moving Beam Horizontal Offset on Additional Column Stress in Large Forging Hydraulic Press

The additional column stress which caused by horizontal offset of moving beam in large forging hydraulic press was introduced. Considering contact-interference, the analysis of additional column stress with different horizontal offset of moving beam were carried out using a finite element simulation method, the distribution and change law of additional column stress under different moving beam horizontal offset conditions were investigated. Modeling and simulation results shows that the maximum additional stress which appears on the joint part between columns and under fixed beam is proportional to the horizontal offset of moving beam approximately and increases linearly with the decrease of the moving beam's displacement. Data analysis was carried out, and a simplified mathematic model for column additional stress calculating was proposed. A practical experiment was conducted to demonstrate the influence of moving beam horizontal offset on column additional stress. The result which compares well with the simulations verifies the correctness of the simulation analysis.
