Mechanical Design and Affective Interaction of Bionic Robot Head

This paper pays attention to the problem of the design and manufacture of the bionic robot head with 13-degree-of-freedom using mechanical designing, three-dimensional mechanical design, and artificial intelligence. According to Gross' emotional regulation process, the model of probabilistic finite state machine was set up to realize the on-line changes of the robot facial expression. Moreover, the emotional state space model of the robot was analyzed and the stimulating transition probabilities of different emotion state during the human-robot interaction process were acquired. The affective interaction effect generated by the emotion expression model was verified using the experiment results of the 13-degree-of-freedom expression robot platform. It also showed that the emotion expression model can get on-line expressive results and get rid of the single expressive interaction mode comparing to traditional algorithms.
