Removal of Dyes and Heavy Metals from Tannery Waste Water by Using Activated Lawsonia inermis Carbon
Activated Lawsonia inermis carbon (AC) adsorbent was studied to remove the metal ions: Pb(II), Cr(VI) and As(IV), and methyl green dye. The maximum adsorption was obtained at pH 5 for Pb(II), Cr(VI) and As(IV). The synthesized adsorbent material is characterized by Fourier transform
infrared (FT-IR), powder X-ray diffraction studies (PXRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis. Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm models were also applied as adsorption mechanism, which explores the better adsorption power of the synthesized material. Better understanding (with R
2
= 0.97) between the Langmuir model and experimental data was investigated. Freundlich model confirmed the AC act as good adsorption capacity in Pb(II), Cr(VI) and As(IV) adsorption processes.
