On the Influence of Obstacle Modeling in Multiple Diffraction of Acoustic Waves
Two uniform theory of diffraction (UTD)-based formulations for the analysis of the multiple diff raction of sound when the diffracting obstacles are modeled as both rectangular sections and cylinders are hereby presented. More realistic models are proposed while at the same time the
insertion losses results are compared with those obtained with a formulation already published which assumes the obstacles to be modeled as knife-edges or wedges. In this way, an analysis of the impact of obstacle modeling on sound attenuation is carried out, thus contributing to obtaining
more precise acoustic propagation models when multiple diff raction caused by equi-spaced objects of rectangular or cylindrical shape has to be taken into account.
