Editorial: Introducing New Editorial Board Members

We are pleased to introduce seven new Editorial Board members who have joined Visual Resources.

Mary Bergstein, Associate Professor of Art History at the Rhode Island School of Design,has published numerous articles on Italian Renaissance art in Arte Veneta, Revista d'arte, The Burlington Magazine, Source, and Renaissance Quarterly; and on the photography of art in the Art Bulletin and the Oxford Art Journal. Her articles published in Visual Resources include "Evidences Again: Aaron Siskind and the Modernist Documentation of Art" (Vol. IX, No. 2, 1995) and (with Maureen C. O'Brien) "Looking at Sculpture: The Photographers' Choices at Rhode Island School of Design" (Vol. X, No. 2, 1994), as well as book reviews in Vol. X, No. 4, 1995; Vol. XIV, Nos. 1 and 2, 1998, and Vol. XVIII, No. 1, 2001. She wrote the introductory essay in Art History through the Camera's Lens (G & B, 1996) and the essay "The Mystification of Antiquity under Pius IX: Photography in Rome 1846-1878," in Envisioning the Third Dimension: Sculpture and Photography, edited by Geraldine Johnson. Her book, The Sculpture of Nanni di Banco, was published by Princeton University Press in 2000. She also edited the catalogue and curated the exhibition (with Maureen C. O'Brien) Image and Enterprise: The Photography of Adolphe Braun in 1999-2000. She is currently working on "Freud, Proust, and the Photography of Art."

William C. Brumfield is Professor of Slavic Languages at Tulane University, where he also lectures at the School of Architecture. Elected in 2002 to the Russian State Academy of Architecture, he is the author and photographer of Gold in Azure: One Thousand Years of Russian Architecture (1983), The Origins of Modernism in Russian Architecture (1991), A History of Russian Architecture (1993), Lost Russia: Photographing the Ruins of Russian Architecture (1995), and Landmarks of Russian Architecture (1997). He has also edited several books, in Russian as well as English, and published numerous articles (including nine in Visual Resources: Vol. V, No. 4, 1989; Vol. VI, No. 3, 1990; Vol.,IX, No. 3, 1993; Vol. XI, No. 2, 1995; Vol. XII, No. 2, 1996; Vol. XIV, No. 1, 1998; Vol. XV, No. 1, 1999; Vol. XVI, No. 4, 2000; and Vol. XVIII, No. 1, 2002. His photographs of Russian architecture, which have been exhibited at galleries and museums, are part of the collection of the Photographic Archives at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.
