Agile manufacturing can be defined as the capability of surviving in a competitive environment of continuous and unpredictable change by reacting quickly and effectively to changing markets, driven by customer-designed products and services. In such an environment, most, if not all, decisions have to be made precisely and in an intelligent manner. Intelligent decisions can only be made if we are aware of all aspects of our business and operation, which is not easily achieved.
