Open Access Preparation and Luminescence Properties of PbF2:Er3+,Yb3+ Up-conversion Light-emitting Materials

Er3+, Yb3+ co-doped PbF2(PbF2:Er3+,Yb3+) matrix up-conversion luminescence materials were prepared by a hydrothermal method with the NaF and NH4HF2 as fluorine source. A bright green light appears under 1 064 nm laser excitation at room temperature. The phase and morphology of the materials were characterized by scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction, respectively. The influences of annealing temperature and rare earth ions Er3+/Yb3+doping mole ratio on the up-conversion luminescence of PbF2:Er3+,Yb3+ sample were investigated. The results show that the PbF2:Er3+,Yb3+ sample has a greater luminescence intensity when the annealing temperature and reaction time are 550 and 48 h. The optimum luminescence properties of the PbF2:Er3+,Yb3+ sample prepared can be obtained when the doping mole ratio of Er3+/Yb3+ ions is 1:9.
