Comments on the Genus Lepidotrigla (Pisces: Triglidae) with Descriptions of Two New Species from the Indian and Pacific Oceans
Recently collected specimens of the triglid genus Lepidotrigla from the western Indian Ocean reveal the presence of a new species from the Saya de Malha Bank and provide additional information on the characters and distribution of several rare species—L. multispinosa,
L. alcocki, L. bentuviai, and L. omanensis. A key to these western Indian Ocean species is included. Also a single specimen from the central Pacific Ocean is described as new. Additional analysis of these species and others provides new information on the genus Lepidotrigla.
