Thompsonia Luetzeni, New Species (Cirripedia: Rhizocephala), a Solitary Parasite from the Alpheid Shrimp Alpheus Parvirostris
A new rhizocephalan barnacle, Thompsonia lützeni Høeg and Bruce, is described from the alpheid shrimp Alpheus parvirostris Dana. Unlike all previously described species of Thompsonia which are highly gregarious, T. lützeni is unique in being
solitary on its host. T. lützeni is the largest Thompsonia species yet described and differs from other species in some anatomical details.
