IPARC becomes 'Consortium'
Linked to the hard realities of the current economic downturn, the International Pesticide Application Research Centre (IPARC) has been obliged to reorganise, with a move out of a teaching area renovated in 2003 and a major "spring-clean" in the research areas. However, teaching and research activities will continue to be based at Silwood Park and a number of new opportunities are being pursued. IPARC collaborators will continue to focus on the pest management needs for smallholder farmers and public health in developing countries, with multi-disciplinary approach (biology-based technical solutions rather than just agricultural engineering). Over recent years, international collaboration has increasingly become the way to do business and, for a number of reasons, it has been appropriate to rename ourselves as the International Pesticide Application Research Consortium (thus conveniently enabling us to maintain the same logo).
