Biofumigation – Using brassica rotations to manage soil-borne pests and diseases
Managing soil-borne pests and diseases is critical for producers of vegetables. Underground crops, in particular, are exposed to a range of damaging organisms that reduce yield by killing the plant or damage the product and make it unmarketable. Insects, nematodes, fungi and bacteria are among the pests attacking root crops. Above ground crops are also at risk, as the same organisms can affect plant growth and, as a result, yield by damaging roots.
