A test of the Schwarzschild metric, as well as of the metric concept of “spacetime,” which has never been verified directly, is easily conceptualized, although less easily effectuated. The test proposed here envisions accurate timing measurements of order c - 4 , carried out in Earth satellites similar to those of the Global Positioning System.
