Morphological studies based on type specimens revealed that G. reinkingii (originally described from Honduras, but subsequently synonymized under G. lloydianum) is a good species that is probably well distributed in tropical and subtropical forests in America. Here we present a modern description and color photographs of the species, and a comparison with the morphologically closest South American species: G. glaucescens, G. hariotii, G. lloydianum, and G. setiferum.
