Implementing Science Education in an Integrated Curriculum at Primary Level: Threats and Opportunities
This article aims to explore the difficulties of providing quality primary science education through an integrated curriculum named General Studies. Principals, panel heads and teachers of two schools which received the Chief Executive Excellence in Teaching Award were interviewed to
investigate their strategies and difficulties in providing quality science education. The findings reflect the views of the respondents regarding the importance and priority they gave to science in light of the competing demands from various education reform initiatives. The strategies employed
in enhancing pupils’ performance and understandings in science are reflected, which provides good reference for schools and teachers.
