Open Access Analytical Diffraction Corrections for Circular Focused Transducers Expressed Using the Multi-Gaussian Beam Model

In this work, analysis diffraction corrections for circular focused transducers are developed. The multi-Gaussian beam model is used to model the wave field generated by the transmitter and constrain the integral range of the receiver. Phase correction terms are introduced to model curved transducer surfaces as planar surfaces. The proposed method is applicable for both point and line focused transducers; it also works for the transmitter and receiver with unequal sizes. Simulation results are presented using the proposed method for different kinds of transducers and they are shown to be in good agreement with the complicated integral computations.
