The measurements of ultrasonic absorption in aqueous mixtures of methanol and ethanol are presented in the frequency range from 5 to 1000 MHz. These measurements enable the relaxation spectrum to be precisely determined in the case of ethanol mixtures and to show a relaxation process in the case of methanol mixtures; sound velocity measurements, at low frequency are also presented. A theoretical interpretation is proposed based on Andreae's model.

Les mesures d'absorption ultrasonore dans les mélanges aqueux de methanol et d'éthanol sont présentées pour une gamme de fréquence de 5 à 1000 MHz. Elles permettent de préciser les profils des courbes d'absorption dans le cas de l'éthanol et de mettre en évidence un processus de relaxation dans le cas du methanol; les mesures de vitesse de propagation à basse fréquence sont également présentées. Une interprétation théorique basée sur le modèle d'Andreae est proposée.

Zusammenfassung

Es werden Messungen der Ultraschallabsorption in wässrigen Mischungen von Methanol und Äthanol im Frequenzbereich von 5 bis 1000 MHz mitgeteilt. Mit ihnen konnte der Verlauf der Absorptionskurven präzisiert und ein Relaxationsprozeß im Fall des Methanols nachgewiesen werden; desgleichen wird über die Messungen der Ausbreitungsgeschwindigkeit bei tiefen Frequenzen berichtet. Auf der Grundlage des Modells von Andreae wird eine theoretische Interpretation vorgeschlagen.
