Degassing of Water by Cavitation

Experimental investigations showed that small cavities are formed in water due to the dissolved air collecting into bubbles during ultrasonic radiation. The separation does not occur in the liquid. It is caused by cavitation events at the radiating surface of the transducer.

Further measurements were made in fields of standing waves. In such ultrasonic stationary fields, the volume of the expelled air and the content of the undissolved air were measured for several power steps and for a series of reflector-transducer distances.
