Open Access A Fundamental Frequency Analyzer for Clinical and Experimental Phoniatrics

Download Article:
A new fundamental frequency analyzer for the clinical and experimental examination of the speaking and singing voice is described, which can be regarded as a refinement of the system of Gnitzmacher and Lottermoser [11]. The analyzer measures continuously the fundamental frequency and the sound level of the voice simultaneously; additionally, it contains a special circuit, which automatically compares the durations of two consecutive fundamental periods. The analyzer covers the entire frequency range of the human voice, combines short time constants with an accurate frequency analysis and works with an automatic filter switch. Since calibration and handling of the apparatus are very easy, it can be operated even by auxiliary personnel. Some examples are given to demonstrate the range of application of the analyzer.
