Open Access One Path Ultrasonic Flowmeter Using Electroacoustic Feedback

Download Article:
A new ultrasonic flowmeter using an electroacoustic feedback has been recently described in Acustica [5]. The principle of action is the following: an ultrasonic transmitter and an ultrasonic receiver both immersed in the fluid flow are connected respectively to the input and the output of an amplifier which self oscillates at a frequency depending on the velocity of the fluid.

The present contribution describes a flowmeter based on the same principle, in which, however, each transducer works alternatively as transmitter and receiver so that the ultrasonic wave traverses an identical path in the two directions. This procedure secures a higher stability with changing temperature.
