Study and Interpretation of Several Interference Phenomena Observable by Visualisation of the Ultrasonic Fields

On interposing a solid prism in the path of an ultrasonic wave, there appears under certain conditions a stratification of the intensity of the vibrations which can be verified by a method of visualisation. The report here below describes, in a succint way, the experimental results obtained with beams of vibrational frequencies which are in the range of 1 to 10 MHz.

The study of a simple theoretical model permits the interpretation of the results in a satisfactory manner and to specify the influence of the different parameters on the phenomenon.
