Open Access Relation Between the Mean Noise Level and the Level Deduced from the Mean Noise Energy Density

The customary method of determining the mean noise level, that is deduced from mean noise energy density of a series of measurements, is somewhat unwieldy.

The paper describes a simplified method for calculating this mean noise level.

The analysis shows how the arithmetic mean of the noise level measurements can be corrected by a factor based on the scattering of the measured values about their arithmetic mean value.
