Damping of ultrasound in metals, carbon steels and nickel

An experimental apparatus and technique for measuring the damping of ultrasound in metals with a resonant-reverberation method is described. The experimental results obtained on a number of carbon steels and nickel are given, together with a qualitative theoretical interpretation.
